To provide loving care for children away from their parents,
giving primary attention to their safety, health, and well being.
To help children to build a positive self-image, and to provide a well-rounded educational program
which will enable the child to develop the skills and behavior patterns that build self confidence.
To provide the kind of guidance that will allow the child to adjust to adults other than parents and to children of their own age level, become accustomed to routines, and use age appropriated equipment and materials correctly. We encourage exploration and experimentation, within limits.
Poland Boardman Child Care Center
at a Glance
We are an outreach program of the Poland United Methodist Church. We are licensed to operate by the state of Ohio, and are one of Ohio’s Step Up To Quality star rated programs. We use a structured curriculum that aligns with the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards. We offer lower staff to child ratios and higher staff credentials than
many other centers. Our programs stress growth and development of the “whole child” in a Christian
atmosphere of creativity and exploration. We have technology in every classroom, a full gymnasium,
a separate cafeteria, a huge fenced in outdoor playground plus pavilion.
Programs We Offer
We offer separate programs for children from the ages of 2 1/2 to 10 years of age. We currently have preschool sessions,
half day sessions, full day sessions, kindergarten readiness enrichment sessions, and after school sessions. Poland schools provide transportation to our center for the after school sessions. We also offer school age sessions during school holidays and snow days.
Kindergarten Readiness Class
This class is the level before the child starts kindergarten. They will work on the skills they will need for kindergarten (alphabet, numbers,
pre-reading, science, rhyming, patterning, positional concepts, fine and large motor skills) along with art, music, and fun sensory activities.
An evaluation will be done on each child to test for kindergarten readiness and parent teacher conferences will ensure that teacher
and parents are on the same page when it comes time for the child to enroll for kindergarten.
KR Enrichment
Class
This session is an extension of the Kindergarten Readiness class. This class will better prepare the child for a longer day,
and give them reinforcement of the skills they are learning in the Kindergarten Readiness class.
This class is recommended for any child due to enter kindergarten the next term.
Rainbow
Class
This class has a different theme every day. The themes will focus on a particular topic and the children will be learning as they have fun.
My Five Senses, Healthy Foods, Fire and Personal Safety, and Earth Day are just a few of the many themes they will encounter.
Concepts they will be exposed to are: colors, shapes, pre-number skills, pre-reading skills, fine and large motor skills,
language skills, art projects and music.
Teddy Bear
Class
This is the youngest level of preschool we offer, starting at the age of two. Sharing, group cooperation,
listening skills, learning to make independent achievements, and socialization skills are all a big goal in this class.
Music, art, and language development are incorporated into every session, in fun and creative ways.
